Snowy Days - Hungry Birds
The past few days have been very wintry with freezing temperatures and intermittent sleet and snow. The birds have been frequent visitors to our garden feeders and the introduction of 2 new ones to our developing wildlife viewing area were well received and attracted visitors within minutes. These are just a few of the species which find a welcome meal to carry them through the cold: Great Spotted Woodpecker (female), common redpoll, feisty siskins, blue tit, yellowhammer, goldfinch and blackbird. Under the larch tree great tits are exploring the new feeders. The snow has somewhat curtailed our activities around the wildlife area but the birds don't seem to mind that it's a bit scruffy. More updates when the weather improves!
